All Saint’s Parish Church

Gothic style church. Nave of basalt rubble, later tower is coursed tooled basalt with ashlar sandstone dressing. Nave fronted by tall square tower and spire. Recessed doorway with attached columns, tower with corner finials. Later South transept and vestry. Modern boiler house at SE corner.

    Basalt stonework is in good condition but some sandstone detailing shows evidence of deterioration with scaling, flaking and granular disintegration resulting in surface roughening and loss of architectural detail.

    Stage 2 – Section specific remedial action is required but the extent of intervention should be limited because of the lack of distant involvement within façade boundaries.
