Stone bridge with defensive barbican at West end. Barbican is 3 storeys high with battlements and rounded side tower. Small round headed lancet windows over Tudor arched main entrance gates. Carved coat of arms over gateway.

    Basalt stonework is in good condition but sandstone detailing shows extensive evidence of surface deterioration with scaling, flaking and granular disintegration.
