Riddel Hall

Tudoresque Gothic style 3 storey, 9 bay building of 4 wings around a courtyard, built in red brick with Scottish sandstone dressings. Main entrance at East end of South, main front. Tudoresque archway leading into an open porch, oriel window above. Rest of main face is buttressed with casement windows, gable forms points over windows. Other façades similar, plainer at rear. Good plaque by Rosamund Praeger in hallway.

    Sandstone blockwork is in reasonable condition but with some evidence of isolated stone block deterioration and surface loss through flaking and granular disintegration.
