Bath Stone

Bath Stone is an oolitic limestone, Jurassic in age (formed some 195 million years ago), and described as being a warm honey colour. It is also a freestone, i.e. able to be worked in any direction. Originally quarried at Combe Down and Bathampton Down Mines, Somerset, England. Generally cream/honey in colour with fossils, the stone weathers well over time and is prone to mild dissolution.
