Cop Crag Sandstone

Cop Crag/Copp Cragg Sandstone is Carboniferous in age (354 to 290 million years old) and is still actively quarried near Byrness, Northumberland. It is a variegated yellow to pink, fine to medium grained sandstone which has a porosity of approximately 18%. It is used throughout the United Kingdom as stone replacement and on new builds.
