Flagstone

Flagstone is a general term referring to naturally bedded sedimentary rocks which are easily cut or split into layers. It can be sandstone, limestone or mudstone and is most commonly used for paving but can also be used as roofing and building material. Some of the most commonly used types of flagstone in the UK and Ireland are Caithness which is a grey to buff sandstone from Caithness, Scotland and Liscannor a grey mudstone from the West of Ireland.
