Ketton Limestone

Ketton Limestone is an oolitic limestone, Middle Jurassic in age (around 180 million years old) and still actively quarried near Ketton Village, Rutland where it has been quarried since Roman times. It is a pale cream to yellow or brown, oolitic stone which has a porosity of around 22%.

It is usually a very durable stone and is used throughout the United Kingdom, particularly in Cambridge, examples include Woburn Abbey, Pembroke and Trinity Colleges, Cambridge and St. Pancras Railway Station, London.
