Woodkirk Sandstone

Woodkirk Sandstone is Carboniferous in age (354 to 290 million years old) and is still actively quarried near Morley, Leeds, Yorkshire where it has been quarried since the 18th Century. It is grey to buff in colour when fresh, weathering buff to brown on exposure. It is fine grained with a porosity of approximately 15%. It is used throughout the United Kingdom as stone replacement, paving and on new builds.
