Weldon Limestone is a shelly limestone, Middle Jurassic in age (around 180 million years old) and quarried until relatively recently near Corby, Northamptonshire where it has been quarried since Roman times, some existing stock remains. It is a cream to pale brown stone which varies from fine to coarse grained with variable amounts of shelly fragments. It is usually a very durable stone and was used throughout the United Kingdom including King's College Chapel, Cambridge
