Peterhead Granite

Peterhead Granite is similar in appearance to Balmoral Granite when polished. Both granites formed during the Devonian some 410 million years ago. It originates from Boddam, near Peterhead, Scotland where it was extensively quarried in the 18th and 19th Centuries. It has been widely used in the local area and further afield for building, decorative stone and memorial structures. The quarry closed in 1956

Peterhead Granite is a durable, coarse grained building stone that is pink in colour and may contain xenoliths ('foreign stones')
