Baltic Brown
Baltic Brown Granite (also known as Rapakivi Granite) is Pre-Cambrian in age (around 1500 million years old) and is still actively quarried in the Ylämaa area of South-East Finland. It is a very distinctive stone with very large orbicular potash feldspars rimmed by greenish plagioclase feldspars, other minerals include quartz, biotite and hornblende. It is normally used as polished facing stone both exterior (Housing Executive, Adelaide Street, Belfast) and interior (Culloden and Slieve Donard hotel)
