Local Devonian Sandstone

Devonian sandstone and conglomerate occur mainly in Counties Tyrone and Antrim and a small area of County Fermanagh. In County Tyrone this includes the Shanmullagh Formation, Gortfinbar Conglomerate and Shanmaghery Formation, all of which are purplish grey to red sandstones which tend to weather poorly including flaking, scaling and face loss.
