Stanton Moor is an English Carboniferous sandstone of the Millstone Grit Series which was widely used as a building stone in England and is still actively quarried. It is a popular sandstone and has been used for repair/replacement work e.g. Albert Memorial Clock Tower, Belfast, and in new-builds e.g. Victoria Square development, Belfast

Stanton Moor Sandstone is a fine to medium grained stone with clearly defined bedding and lamination structures. It is buff to pink in colour and is a relatively durable sandstone that typically weathers gradually through granular disintegration although delamination can occur
