Lower Carboniferous Sandstone (Tyrone Group and Omagh Sandstone Group) from Tyrone was used locally throughout the county as building material. Examples of these sandstones include:

Carland Sandstone Formation exposed in Carland Quarry 4 km NNW of Dungannon and used around Donaghmore.
