Clashach Sandstone
Clashach Sandstone is a Permian Scottish sandstone that is still actively quarried at Elgin where preserved sections show the fossilized remains of reptilian footprints. The sandstone is non-calcareous and identified as being a very durable stone type suitable for use in most aspects of construction. Clashach is fine to medium grained with a colour variability that includes buff, yellow and pink varieties. Even in polluted urban environments Clashach typically weathers only gradually through granular disintegration
