Crumlin Gate Lodge

Part of Crumlin Road Gaol complex. Two storey Italianate style gate lodge with recessed centre section and 2 bays either side. Square-topped sash windows with keystones, balustrade at top.

Recessed central section consists of 4 large Tuscan columns, broken up by vermiculated square blocks. Central 2 columns have been rendered together to form a modern rectangular entrance. Blind rounded arches behind outer columns.

    Primary stone is in good condition with no significant evidence of deterioration. Sandstone shows some evidence of surface loss primarily through granular disintegration and occasional flaking.

    Stage 2 – Section specific remedial action is required but the extent of intervention should be limited because of the lack of distant involvement within façade boundaries.
