St. Jude’s Parish Church

  •   Ormeau Road, Belfast

Gothic Revival style with Irish Romanesque round tower. The whole East side of church and transepts was extended in 1887. North transept gable, nave gable and South side extended in 1898-9. Built in Scrabo Sandstone with string courses in Dundonald Sandstone.

    Sandstone blockwork is in reasonable condition but with some evidence of isolated stone block deterioration and surface loss through scaling, flaking and granular disintegration. Heavy soiling.

    Stage 2 – Section specific remedial action is required but the extent of intervention should be limited because of the lack of distant involvement within façade boundaries.
