St. Peter’s Cathedral

Large Gothic Revival style church. Twin western towers and spires with large tracery window in West gable above double recessed door with tympanum sculpture. Nave with aisles and lean- to roofs. Side porches enlarged to form chapels. Apse ended West end.

    Stonework is now in good condition, however this is due to the large amount of stone replacement carried out as part of restoration works in recent years.

    Stage 1 – A façade in this condition will only require localised remedial treatment concentrating on individual blocks. Stage 1 classification may also indicate that no intervention is needed with only periodic re-assessment of the façade is recommended.
