Dunhouse Sandstone

Dunhouse Sandstone is a Millstone Grit sandstone, Carboniferous in age (354 to 290 million years old) and still actively quarried near Darlington, Durham where it has been quarried since the early 1900’s. It is a uniform, buff,  fine grained, non-calcareous sandstone which has a porosity of approximately 18%. It is used throughout the United Kingdom as stone replacement and on new builds.
