Holy Cross Monastery

Three storey monastery in Lombardic Romanesque style. Built in Scrabo Sandstone with bands of red Dundonald Sandstone. Open porch with granodiorite columns. Third storey added 1930-1 by Charles Powell of Dublin.

    Sandstone blockwork is in reasonable condition but with some evidence of isolated stone block deterioration and surface loss through scaling, flaking and granular disintegration. Heavy soiling.

    Stage 2 – Section specific remedial action is required but the extent of intervention should be limited because of the lack of distant involvement within façade boundaries.
